Hit And Run

Blazing through the venues in the Columbus, Ohio live music scene, The Villaintinos created a unique adrenaline-loaded sonic punch, with echoes of inspiration from the early L.A. punk scene and rock legends like X, The Damned, and The Cult.

Their visceral live shows and tight, hook-driven songs grab hard while vocalist Leah Hanson simultaneously beguiles and bulldozes - luring the crowd in closer just before “showing ‘em a little teeth.”

The Villaintinos’ self-titled first album features eight original tracks, packing fifty pounds of rock into a ten-pound sack. Recorded at Relay Recording in Columbus, OH, Producer, and Engineer Jon Fintel took great care to capture the band’s musical urgency and melodic tension.

Leah Hanson - Vocals

Todd Novak - Guitars

Matt Grover - Drums

Jay Donovan - Bass

“A band that has simply exploded on the Columbus music scene.”

— Rick Gethin, Music In Motion Columbus

In late 2018, founder and guitarist Todd Novak had a vision based on an incendiary batch of songs he had written – he knew how the band would sound, look, and how people would react. However, he lacked a crucial piece – a BAND. He called on drummer Matt Grover, with whom he had played in two earlier bands, to get things in motion. Matt was his “Topper Headon,” known for his incredible time, effortless power and knack for the right beat.

A great drummer needs a great bass player, so they asked Jay Donovan, one of the most talented in town, to join. A long-time musician, Jay immediately picked up the vibe of the group and steadfastly attacked the bass to complete the sound.

Still, The Villaintinos needed THE vocalist. Early on, Todd knew this could only be fronted by a female with a massive amount of attitude and a voice that would feel like a shot through the heart and a kick to the balls.

Jay introduced Todd and Leah, and they put each other to the ultimate test of one’s musical prowess – dive bar karaoke. Leah capped the night off by dedicating The Cult’s “Love Removal Machine” to Todd, who was dumbstruck by the power of her voice and delivery. Fueled with a burning vision of the band’s future, they spent weeks together sharing stories and working out the lyrical direction of the band.

The Villaintinos played their first show together February 16, 2019 and offers for other shows immediately flooded in. They have continued to play shows all around central Ohio and now are proud to release their first album.

“A great live band that hits just as hard in the studio.”

Jon Fintel, Producer and Recording Engineer
